How Does CBD Help Relieve Pain?
Let's start with this fun fact: All mammals have an Endocannabinoid System (ECS.) While the ECS was only discovered in the past 30 years, scientists now know it evolved over 600 million years ago.
The ECS plays a HOMEOSTATIC role in our bodies. (Homeostatic role means keeping the internal environment stable; striving for equilibrium.)
Examples of what the ECS controls:
- Immune System
- Body Temp
- Brain Function
Without homeostasis in our bodies, disturbances arise, such as:
- Chronic Pain
"Endo" means originating "inside" the body, or "from within."
So, the fact that we have an Endocannabinoid System (ECS) means that we have cannabinoid receptors inside our bodies (called CB1 and CB2).
Therefore, when we ingest or topically apply Cannabidiol (CBD), our internal receptors are ready to receive.
CBD essentially communicates with our ECS and immediately addresses any deficiencies or instabilities within the Endocannabinoid System.
Remember, the ECS is responsible for regulating healthy brain function, body temp, anxiety, stress, pain, inflammation. (Aka, homeostasis).
If there was a verbal dialog between CBD and your Endocannabinoid System, it might sound like this:
"Hey, ECS, now that I'm here, I see that your inflammation levels are a little out of whack. I'm gonna go ahead and fix them for you." And ECS says, "Thanks, homie." And then YOU say, "Wow, I feel so much better!"
So, next time you're contemplating the magic behind Ache + Pain Relief, or one of our Signature CBD Bath Bombs, know that some great communication has just taken place between your ECS and our organically grown, hemp-derived, broad spectrum CBD.
